Our Founder

Torque Point’s Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Richard Katz, is a former Managing Director of Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he served for over 18 years (from 1988 to 2007), and a former Chief Financial Officer of a healthcare services start-up, where he served for four years (from 2007 to 2011).

Mr. Katz’s Goldman Sachs career included leadership positions in both the Investment Banking Division and the Fixed Income, Currency & Commodities Division, and his responsibilities included transaction origination, proprietary investing, capital commitment, risk management, workouts and strategic planning. Most prominently, Mr. Katz managed a large securities portfolio of companies undergoing significant transitions, such as bankruptcy, stakeholder disputes and litigation.

Mr. Katz’s responsibilities as the CFO of the healthcare services start-up included raising financing (including over $600 million of equity and debt transactions), structuring joint ventures, negotiating favorable managed-care contracts, spearheading cost-containment initiatives and guiding the interactions between corporate and field operations. His other responsibilities included managing corporate accounting, financial planning & analysis, risk management and financial reporting.

Mr. Katz received a B.A. from Yale University in 1988.
