Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc.

Executive (2012-2023)
Mr. Katz joined the Plan Administrator of Lehman’s Chapter 11 Plan of Reorganization as a senior executive responsible for, among other things: litigating and negotiating certain ISDA, repo and contract disputes; optimizing the monetization of corporate loan, mortgage loan & securities portfolios; litigating and negotiating major international intercompany disputes; and managing certain complex bankruptcy claims.


MF Global Holdings Ltd.

(Post-bankruptcy)

Director (2013-2020)
Mr. Katz joined the board of the Plan Administrator of MF Global’s Chapter 11 Plan of Liquidation.  Under the new board’s active management, MF Global among other things: litigated and settled actions relating to insurance policies and fidelity bonds; litigated and settled a professional services malpractice action; unwound complex claims facing a SIPA trustee; and extricated key assets subject to international jurisdiction. 


LBI ehf.

(Formerly Landsbanki hf., an Icelandic bank in insolvency)

Chairman of the board of directors (2016-2021, 2022-2023), Non-executive director (2021-2022)
Mr. Katz became Chairman of the Board of LBI ehf. pursuant to its composition plan under Icelandic insolvency statute.  Under the new board’s active management, LBI among other things: negotiated settlements of claims among Icelandic and offshore banks; optimized the monetization of loan, private equity and real estate assets; litigated and settled a professional services malpractice action; pursued suits against insurers; litigated and settled derivative actions; and oversaw the wind-down of a portfolio of controversial European residential mortgages.


SunEdison Inc.

(Post-bankruptcy)

Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the board of directors (2017-Present)
Mr. Katz became Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of SunEdison following its Chapter 11 Plan of Reorganization.  Following his appointment, SunEdison among other things: effected the sale of international assets; unwound contracts; settled disputes with former customers; negotiated accelerated payments under earn-outs; pursued international tax refunds; repatriated overseas cash; assessed litigation opportunities; and resolved bankruptcy claims.


Government Development Bank of Puerto Rico (DEBT RECOVERY AUTHORITY)

(Post-reorganization)

Collateral Monitor (2018-Present)
Pursuant to the GDB’s reorganization under Title VI of PROMESA, Mr. Katz and a partner oversee the collection of receivables from Puerto Rican municipalities and infrastructure projects, requiring active negotiation among creditors and public finance authorities.
